Hello everyone.

I am about to be involved in a project which involves specifying pumps for a refined product terminal center. These would be feed / discharge pumps for API tanks. Being new to this I've been doing research on this. Besides NPSH and power requirement calculation. What other basic specifications must I look into and be aware off?

Forgot to add that I been reading API 610. So, what I am really seeking is mostly recommendations from personal experience.

Typically your organization will have previous specs to use as a starting point, assuming they've done similar projects in the past. You'll of course update them accordingly for the service, flow/pressure requirements, connection sizes/ratings, and desired features.

If you are new to the business it might be worth having a look at a few installations and talk to people who supply , install, operate and maintain such pumps. They may have some special insights which will help you develop the specification.
