If family table in ProE is equivalent to the I-DEAS History Tree then how about ....Supress Feature ;-)

Let me explain in detail.I want to make a family table of a part with casting and machining instances. For that i have to suppress some features in some instances.

Crate an assembly and suppress instances ( parts inside of a assambly) or you can supress features within the part too.

Is there a reason you wouldn't just derive the casting part from the machined part at the history node b4 you start doing the machining operations?

The benefit is that then you have one drawing for the casting and one for the machined part (which your company likely wants/needs for inspections, etc), but as you update the individual parts, the required changes propagate as desired.
