How to translate CATIA V4 to STEP format

I am a new user to CATIA and i am currently using CATIA V4.2.2 (soon to be upgraded to V5). I have been asked by one of our customers to provide the model in the STEP format (They want to then convert it for use in ProE).

Can it be done in CATIA or do i need to purchase translating software or is there a good freeware program out there.

YES! It can be done, but you need the Proper "STEP" license.
Contact the people on the other end, and find out what STEP
they need - 204, 217, etc.
