How to write matrix in MATLAB from .mtx file?

Hi,
I have a problem related with .mtx file, which generated to store elemental stiffness value.
There are two questions:
1. In case of elemental matrix abaqus writes max. 4 value per line that's why the shape of matrix not looks clear.
I want to store this matrix in MATLAB or python but this is a symmetric matrix so how to do it?
2. Can we extract global stiffness matrix for each iteration (in case of nonlinearity) in Abaqus?

Check the Abaqus2Matlab tool. It includes mtx2Matlab for such purposes.
