Based on AASHTO's load distribution through soil cover I calculate a distribution width of 1.37 m by 1.37 m which results in a distributed load of 53 kN/m[sup]2[/sup].

Are you using LFD or LRFD? Also what is your tire width? I believe those factor into the distribution.

Big difference between the Boussinesq and Westergaard solutions in Example 6.2 (11.43 vs 7.25 psf).

Per AASHTO, Its the tire contact area increased by 1.15 times the depth of fill. If you have overlapping wheels, it would increase. Im getting around 70Kn/m
