Hello,

I am designing an open ARC culvert (but it is a concrete box open at the bottom), the dimensions are (rise: 1.45m ; span : 1.30m). The slope of Tailwater is close to 0 and it can be assumed as a trapezoidal tailwater channel.

Design Flow : 0.46cms ; Min flow : 0 ; Max flow 0.73cms.

Can anyone tell me what I should use as Shape and Material to design this culvert???

Thanks!

How about giving it a 2.45m rise and embed the culvert 1.0m (simulating the natural bottom).

That was the initial suggestion my colleague gave me, I taught that there was a specific way of doing it. I will try it that way.

Thank you for the advice!

TerryScan provides a great solution to adjust the HY-8 results to more correctly fit your situation. Please also consider the scour within the culvert and whether it will scour (clean out) the additional 1-meter, just a thought.
