OHSA Interpretation: Use of plywood for shoring and support systems in trenches and excavations at:
references attached calculations, but the calculations are not attached. I've asked OSHA if the attachment is available but suspect it will be a while before I receive a reply. The OSHA interpretation was addressed to the APA, but they said they do not have the referenced attachment. Does anyone have it or know where I can find it? Thanks

Hi alpha17bravo,

I agree that you are not likely to receive the requested calculations. The letter is from 1992 and the shoring industry has come a long ways since then with all kinds of substitutes.

I would wager the calculation just shows an "equivalent or better" bending capacity using the allowable stresses and section modulus.

The shoring industry is always finding newer and better ways to improve worker safety.
