Greetings Guy's

ASME B31.3 gives below formula for Hydrotest pressure calculation

Pt=1.5*Pd*Rr

Pt= Hydrotest Pressure
Pd= Design Pressure
Rr= St/S for pipe and component without established rating but shall not exceed 6.5
= Ratio of component pressure rating at test pressure to the component pressure rating at component design temperature for components
with established ratings, but shall not exceed 6.5

St= Allowable stress at test temperature
S= Allowable stress at design temperature

Please help to understand what are the components with "Established Ratings"....?????

For what components we shall use stress ration and for what pressure rating ratio.

Regards.

Components for which ratings have been established, like the wording says. Think of the calculations you did for determining the pressure rating of the selected pipe as per your piping class, or elbow, or tee (both which are derived from pipe though).

For example: flanges per ASME B16.5 are components with established ratings.
