Hi everyone!

Can anyone tell me more about erosion/corrosion in hydrocyclone separators, such as where it is most likely to occur and methods used to detect it?

Thank you! :)

Generally I have seen erosion at the orifice plate on the reject (or concentrate) stream. As this plate erodes you'll find the quality of separation dropping and the pressure drop controller will be working harder to maintain the require dP ratio across the unit.

I'm sure that there are other erosion mechanisms assocaited with the use of hydrocyclones, especially around the tangential entry to the cyclone.

Hi Dan

contact Warman and they may give you an idea of wear.
For metallurgical (slurry) hydroclones, the various critical dimensions (and materials) are adjusted to optimise unit life against a tradeoff with collection efficiency.
Its a long story.

Cheers

Steve
