Hi!
Has any one used Portable H2 flame detector? We are searching one with reasonable investment for searching potential leaks. Any price range known? Please comment on reliable operation too.

Thanks in advance.

Do you need to detect H2 leak or a vessel's leak using H2 ?

Could U use frean leak detector used in airconditioneer/ refrigerator servive ?

I am sorry for not being clear enough. I mean the H2 gas leak detection. The gas is likely to be at higher temperature +650 Deg C(Natural Gas reformer application) where it may create an unvisible flame.
Hope it is clear.

With an infrared camera you could detect a lot of things but since you are looking for escaping gas you could use a portable ultrasound detector.

We use this technique for monitoring steam traps, valves and surveys on steam and compressed networks.

We work with the Ultraprobe 2000 from uesystems and the price of the complete kit is below $ 5000.

How much hydrogen?
Is the surface at which the leak occurs also at 650ºC?

some additional options:
> classical mass spectrometer hydrogen leak detector
> soap bubble
> thermal IR detection of temperature variance on vessel skin
> UV flame detection
