I need to write a hydrostatic procedure procedure for
16" stainless steel piping [(cryogenic) low temperature]whose connected to vesel(Cryogenic) stain less steel from suction side and then from a discharge side 8" piping line whose connected to heat exchanger.there is no explaination in B31.3 to how to develop the hydrostatic test strategies.is anyone knows any hydrostatic website who address the specific procedures not the genereal one?

Thanks

kaleem

Is this for new fabrication of the 16" pipe, vessel and heat exchanger or just to add the 16" line to an existing or in-service vessel and heat exchanger?

this is a existing line

I still can't follow your original post. Why do you need to develop a hydrostatic test procedure?

Presumably the need has passed by now, but here's a non exhaustive skeleton procedure.

Confirm Cl- contamination of test water < 500ppm
Calculate hydro test figure,
prepare system for test,
Fill with water
Remove trapped air from system
Fit test bucket
take to 50% of test pressure and survey system for leaks,
take to 80% and survey for leaks,
take to 90% and survey for leaks
take to 100% and hold for minimum period
Record pressure and temperature in 10 min intervals
If pressure stays within X%, release pressure
Drain system
Blow through with warmed Nitrogen to remove water deposits

If you can't tolerate water, consider other process compatible fluids, or with grave and delicate careful consideration, consider pnuematic.

If pressure testing of any kind is problematic, NDE the crappers out of everything.
