Good morning for everyone.

We are a shop that fabricates heat exchangers, in fact, we have ASME U certificate. Sometimes we install HE´s also at plants.
One of our customers wants to install around 15 HE´s, all of HE´s are U stamped, but are not fabricated for us. The customer wants to do hydrotest again, for shell side and tube side, in spite that HE´s are stamped.
If we make these hydrotests, It is possible to lose the stamp? It is necessaty to re-stamp them?
Tube to tubesheet joint is rolled and expanded.

Regards,

Luis C.

You don't lose U stamp. You do't restamp by rehydrotest. Go ahead and do it, let customer happy and you pocket the money. Do not exceed the original test pressure so you don't get into trouble. If pressure part failed and required reapir, then you need R-stamp and rehydrotest, and make sure you are R-stamp holder too.
