I built an "earth battery", a battery with the shape of an AA battery, and a couple galvanic cells un series. They use zinc and as oxidizers manganese dioxide in the AA shaped battery, and Cooper un the earth and galvanic cells un series. When I plug a 2.2V 0.25A bulb to a commercial AA battery it turns on but not when I plug it to my batteries, which have a higher voltage. I don't undestand why it doesnt turn on. Any suggestions? When I connect muy batteries to an iron Rod it doesnt magnetize, but it does when I connect it to a commercial AA battery.

You're measuring your battery / cell voltage with no load? My bet is it has a high internal resistance and under load the voltage is collapsing to a low value. A battery or cell with high internal resistance won't deliver much current.
