As I understand your question, you are asking about the governing code for a weld located between two vessels designed to ASME VIII.

IMHO, this should be an ASME VIII vessel weld.

When your organization specified a welded connection between your new deaerator and your storage tank, you made this a pressure vessel field-weld.

Many purchasers of DAs and storage tanks make this joint a flanged connection to avoid field welding problems.

Hmm...Strange one. Technically the Weld End is the limit of Sec. VIII Div. 1, so two weld ends coming together kind of leaves this weld outside the scope.

Standard Designation: BPV Section VIII Div 1
Edition/Addenda:
Para./Fig./Table No:
Subject Description: Section VIII, Division 1 (1986 Edition, 1988 Addenda), U-1(e)
Date Issued: 08/25/1989
Record Number: BC89-202
Interpretation Number : VIII-1-89-115
Question(s) and Reply(ies):
Question: Two vessels were fabricated by a Manufacturer in accordance with the requirements of Section VIII, Division 1 and were stamped accordingly. Nozzles with weld end connections were provided on the vessels. Are the field welds for the connections to these nozzles considered within the Scope of Section VIII, Division 1?

Reply: No, see U-1(e)(1)(a).

Mr David i can't find it, is it in the code itself or the appendices.
Can you please help me where to find it.

Dear Mohamed,

See attached file extracted from Section 8.

THanks for your reply raa2125, i read it but this is means that the weld connect the two vessels together is ASME VIII weld.
am i right?

Dear Mohamed,

See attached interpretation in support to the interpretation provided by david.

If the weld is made by the fabricator of these two pressure vessels then is asme VIII.
Why not?

Dear Mohamed Abdallah,

The storage tank is the demineralized water storage vessel that will be installed below the deaerator. The weld joints shall be governed by ASME B 31.1.
