i have ball valves used in water transmission system the water is botable water for drinking porpuse with PH 7.5 at 35 C temp. the ball chromium plated and the seat electroless nikel plated, after one year of operation thies parts (ball and seats) start corrosion in all the valves.
now we are going to replate these valves again. so please what is the good material which can be used for plating of that balls and seats and what is the required thikness .

Why are you using metal seated ball valves at this moderate temperature? A valve using 316SS ball and graphite filled PTFE seats should give very long life. However, if your valves are large (>6" or 8"), there may be a fairly significant cost increase between a chrome plated ball and a solid 316SS ball.

We can discuss various materials for repairing these valves. However, I'd appreciate more information. Please contact me at martin.sifco@verizon.net.
