I don't think I've seen a 'small' three phase generator under about 40kW.
If you have seen any of the older "MEP" military surplus sets such as the MEP-002A, MEP-017A(5kW),MEP003 (10kw) or MEP-016A (3kW), you have seen a small 3 phase generator set.

Huh. Hain't seen any that I recall. I owned a military generator and it weighed a ton and was built on a cast iron base. The generator body was 3 feet in diameter and about 2 feet long and the stator body was 1-1/4" thick steel, 4 cylinder water cooled, 1200RPM, and it was only 120Vac three something kW. It sure wasn't 3 phase. LOL.
