I am currently working on trying to figure out why the Transilon belts we use in our company fails to maintain good grip with the stamped sheet metal parts we work with.
A stamped sheet metal part sits on the belt and the belt conveys it into a hemming die. However, the sheet metal part sometimes has grease on it's surface.
When the belt is replaced, the coefficient of friction on the blue surface (Transilon) is sometimes so low that the belt keeps spinning but does not grip the sheet metal part enough to make it move.

This causes the motor on the pulley to overload and fault out.

Here's a link to a picture.

Are there any other applicable belts for this process? Is there a better way of fixing the problem other than replacing the belts?
Typically, the belts perform better when the blue surface wears out (exposing the black rubber beneath). The rubber grips better. However, the exposed rubber leads to wear and abrasion, including debris deposits on the sheet metal part.

The belts are inclined at an angle so as to make adequate contact to an uneven sheet metal part.

Please help!!!!!

Mulhern Belt in Oakland Nj has some good belts for this application, with a very sticky top surface. Ithas a green plastic top cover, used for paper envelopes on an incline. This may do the trick. Another manufacturer with this type of belt is Chiorino.

I to have used Chiorino in the UK and found them very good, especially the technical help. Another option is to glue strips to the belt to make it more like a tank track (or even buy a belt like this) where the parts are forced from the belt.
