I-part factory and the BOM 1

I produce cabinetry and I am kind of new to Inventor.

Problem: I am able to reuse my custom I-parts panels in an assembly but I am UNABLE to have the lengths or widths of each part come through seperatly in the BOM with their respective parts. That is, I usually start with a panel thickness of 5/8" or 3/4" then modify the length, width, add features and so on as needed. But when I go to the Bill of Materials, all of the 5/8 or ¾ panels get lumped together. I get “Varies” under the length and width columns. I changed the names for each part as they are installed in the assembly, but get the same end result. I've got the parameters linked. I’ve tried modifying through excel sheet but can’t get the right formula. Can someone help?

You might make sure that each of the parts do not have the same part number listed in the iProperties. This can cause the "Varies" value to show up in the Parts List.

That was the first thing I tried. I’ve designated a different part number for the different sheet stocks I use eg SP-.05, SP-.675, SP-.75, and so on. Then I modify from there.

In the bill of material editor at the assembly level, there is a button titled "Part Number Merge Settings" that will let you turn automatic merging of common part numbers off.

Alternately you can have the excel table build a unique part number for each member of the factory. ="MyPart" && C4" for instance, where C4 is a cell containing a parameter for the part.
