i would like to know if anyone has undertaken the study of equipment used in preheating die prior to diecasting (gravity not pressure.

i am intrested in efficiency of gas v electric, pros and cons etc

In the August 2002 issue of JOM, there is an article titled Simulating Convective Die Heating for Forgings and Pressure Casting written by a company that makes heaters. This article, plus its references, would be a starting place.
