I would like to know something about the NXOpen development enviroment

Hi, All

I'm a newbie for NX world.

I just finished my projects on CATIA automation (VB), Mastercam C-HOOK(MFC). Now, I'm changing to UGS NX.

I'm investigating on how to build my development enviroment for NX.

I would like to get some information from you. The information I need is like the following :
For CATIA automation, there are two ways for that:
1. CAA Rade development. you need special license for that.
2. VBA macro development. you don't need anything special to work on that.

For Mastercam C-Hook development. you have to get the SDK which isn't included in the standard Mastercam installation. You have to get it seperately.


I searched online and tried to get some information. The following documentations give me different answers. The first shows me I don't need any special license for NXOPEN API from NX4. The second document tells me I have to buy the "NX Open Toolkits
Author software package" to do the development.

By the way, I prefer to use C++ to do something on NX.

After more searching, I found I must have the following add-on for NX automation development.
- NX Open for .NET author (if I take VB or C#)
- NX Open automation studio (if I use C++)

Is my understanding right?

Another silly question? What is the different between "NX Open toolkits author" and "NX Open automation studio"?

in net java c# vb
- scrpting if compiled developement licence required -Autor
in Knowledgefusion developement licence required -Autor
in grip developement licence required -Autor
for grip and KF you need an licence to use routines
