Hi all
Just joined to specifically ask this question.
[I've searched and couldn't find an answer so hopefully I'm not covering old ground. If I am, please point me in the right direction thanks]
The question is: "Is there a good tool or resource out there to help identify which Codes and Standards are required to be met for a product"
This is a broad question, so I'll provide some more specific info for our particular case.
We design and build equipment out of Australia and we sell globally to all different countries.
It is typically sampling equipment for the mining industry. Both slurry and Bulk material applications.
Each piece of equipment typically has a control cabinet with varying voltages. All at Low voltage and Extra low voltage. No high voltage.
Most products will have some moving components (pneumatic + electrically actuated) including wheels, carriages, hoists, slides etc etc.
We don't include any civil works in our scope, just elector-mechanical 'products'
All equipment is installed in industrial/mining environments and is not accessible to the public

We sell approximately 20 different 'products' globally and our intent is to create a good register that highlights if you sell product X into location Y then here are the standards you need to meet legally + here are the other standards that are recommended.
We want to consider all relevant standards, ie Electrical Codes, Mechanical/Machine Safety, EMC, Ingress Protection, Environmental, Hazardous Materials etc, Labeling Laws etc etc
I assume every time an engineer or company intends to design a globally sold product, they perform an assessment of the global standards they need to design too.
Is this done manually each and every time? Or has someone, or, some company designed a tool that helps identify the standards required?
