IEEE Type 2 Exciter - how does it work? 1

I am trying to find detailed information on the operation of the exciter, what parameters have major influence on its transient response etc. Im hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

I haven't tried PSAT, but it may be useful for you if you have Matlab.
