Dear all,

I am dropping a projectile of 4 kg m with a velocity of 1.41 m/sec on an aluminum plate. The acceleration/deceleration I get from the Numerical model is 160g and from the Experiment is 3 gs. Can any one advise please what can be the issue?

Presumably the panel and/or the supports are much stiffer in the model than the actual structure.

Or possibly a unit error in the mass.

I have validated 5 different studies already published in the literature with this model. It works well for other studies. One possible reason can be I am looking at the wrong output from the model.

This is not a forum for help with student projects.

Any suitable sanity check would likely tell you that your 3G figure unless your plate or projectile are particularly soft. If that is the result the experiment is giving I'd suggest your measurements lack suitable resolution or are simply inaccurate.
