We have an older version of Algor. V16 with MES. We know the mass, velocity and the desired deaccelation of the projectile. Is it possible to simulate an impact?

Yes, I'm pretty sure it is. How fast is the projectile moving and what is it hitting?

V.16 was pretty early in the MES development. There have been MANY improvements since then, but so long as you are not involved with high strain rate effects, it should be possible.

Algor used to have a demo of a brick being thrown through a window. The window would break in to pieces and fall to the ground. Some of that was a bit of a trick, but the impact portion was pretty incredible. (The "trick" portion was some curve truss elements connecting various plates of the window that would look like they "broke" by allowing them a low modulus after they reached a certain strain and then hiding them in the video after they had stretched beyond the point of any reasonable elasticity...I guess it wasn't really a trick...more like "creative modeling -- pretty impressive, actually).
