Implications of a 5% voltage increase

I want to buy a washing machine to use in my country which uses a voltage of 230v/50hz. The washing machines available operates at 220v/50-60hz.What will be the implication feeding the appliance with a 5% increase or 10 volts more?Would that mean a shorter life span for the appliance?Using a transformer near water sounds disturbing.

That shouldn't be a problem at all. Continental Europe used to have 220 V equipment before the "harmonization" where the continent increased voltage to 230 V and the British lowered it from 240 to 230 V. Most of our appliances (including washing machine) was made for 220 V and now run on 230 V. No problems.

The only thing you may need to watch for is reduced life of incandescent lamps. They are sensitive to increased voltage.
