Another group within our corporation is using Solidedge, in what format should I ask them to export a part so that I can import it into Pro/E?

I have found that STEP is the best format to use for importing/exporting in Pro/E. IGES works for the most part, but you have to be careful with small rounds and planar surfaces. As with any translated file (native CAD to STEP) you lose all parametric association to the features; you're basically left with a solid block. Solid Edge has a feature recognizer utility that will make an assumption of certain features (holes and rounds particularly) and make them parametric when it imports neutral file formats.

Solid Edge can save as Iges (*.igs)or Parasolid (*.x_b;*.x_t)files. I haven't worked on Pro E since V9. I think Igs is your best bet. I hope this helps.

I'been working whith Solid Edge & Pro/e and the best results I've obtained were for step. In iges there are lots of surfaces and limits bad translated. My impression is that step is usually more well-used than iges (by cad programs).

Thanks for all the input. I used step files and got good results.
