Is it possible to import a set of data points (X Y Z format) into NX6.0? NX6 will import a spline from a set of data points but how do I get the data points themselves to import?
Thanks for your help!!

But of course, you will FIRST have to create a spline from the point data file before what ewh described as the logical next step.

Thank you, but the method you suggest creates points using the newly created spline. I need to import the points I used to create the spline in the first place.

The "defining" points of the spline are the result. They should be identical to the original defining points.
You could also derive knot points, if needed.

Ah this old question , again...
( I have complained before that this basic function is missing in NX, hm ...)

Somebody, not me, wrote a little journal that does it.

Download the attached file, should have the ".vb" extension, strip away the ".txt".
Run in NX thru Tools - Journal - Play..., it will ask for the file that contains the point coordinates.

Tomas,
Thank you!!

In what format should the (.dat) data file be:

X.xxxx, Y.yyyy, Z.zzzz
X.xxxx, Y.yyyy, Z.zzzz
X.xxxx, Y.yyyy, Z.zzzz
...
or
X.xxxx Y.yyyy Z.zzzz
X.xxxx Y.yyyy Z.zzzz
X.xxxx Y.yyyy Z.zzzz
....
or
? ? ?

David
