Hi,
I attach a part where I'm not able to convert to sheet metal.
Before to add the draft I was able, after adding no.
Can someone tell me where I fall ?

Thank you...

While you're non-sheet metal approach to your model was very creative, it resulted in a model that does NOT actually represent what a sheet metal part would be like. It's close, but not close enough.

Sorry John,
I don't understand what you mean ?
For any type of object, exist the best approach.
For the image that I attach...sheet metal environment is the best approach, but for boxed sheet metal part, the best approach is start in modeling and convert to sheet metal.
The result of mine approach is less feature and more rapid in rebuild time.
There are limitation in NX sheet metal and I think it's poor developed.
Other CAD can convert this in SM without problem, for example SolidEdge and SolidWorks.

NX Sheet Metal is based on the same tools as Solid Edge sheet metal. However, my comment had to do with the fact that typologically what you created, particularly by using a Shell function on a part with non-perpendicular corners will result in a set of faces which could never be realized by simply folding up sheet metal.

As for you comments about SE and SW, what exactly is it that you are doing? Are you using this forum to help you use NX in your daily work, or are you conducting some sort of comparison?

In this forum I look for help to my problems.
This does not mean that people should have the blinders and doesn't see what others CAD do.
NX has the sheet metal heart, but the development is not the same, as demonstrated by the fact that this piece is flattened in SE but not in NX.
The part is flattened even if the flanges aren't at 90°.
I get angry because I lose hours to find workaround to flatten the part when a CAD considered high end and expensive should be a tool for my creativity and not a block.
You should meditate on the work of people and our problems, not excuses.

I'm not talking about the angle of a flange, but rather the fact that the edges are NOT 'square'.

And if you think your models should work, then please contact GTAC and submit your example so that development can see exactly what it is that you think should work and since NX sheet metal uses the same exact tools as does Solid Edge, if what you say truly works in SE it should be really easy for our people to figure out what the difference is. But I can assure you that if you DO NOT send in any part files and do not have GTAC open an IR/PR, NO one in development is going to work to fix this.

Hi John,
thank you for the suggestions.
I will send this to our CAD Manager...and I will hope and attend..
Big company..big bureaucracy...for this I'm on this forum.

Thank you...
