In RXLogix 5000, why does it show the blackplane in the I/O configure only for certain types of controllers?

eg. 1756-L61, I can see a backplane 1756-A17 in the I/O configure tree
1756-L1, only the modules are shown, no backplane or controller are shown under the same tree.

1756-L61 is a PLC controller, it controls racks of cards in its IO config or tree

1756-L1 is a controlnet card, its either part of the rack you inserted or is a comm module for a remote rack.

Both can show racks below it but the 1756-L63 can show it in its rack(local) or a remote rack.

Depends on how you configure the IO in the tree.

I think it's most likely that you are looking at different revisions of RSLogix 5000; the I/O tree graphics evolved over the years.

Since the 1756-L1 controller only goes up to v13, it's probable that you are running a more modern (v16 to v20) version of RSLogix 5000 with the 1756-L61 controller.
