Inclinded Brick Wall Support

I have an inclined brick wall that is sloping about 7 deg for 37'-0 tall roughly, there are two floors. Looking at corbeling restrictions I don't think I can go more than a few feet without steel support if the back up is light gauge currently shown which seems excessive. I think best options is to have some precast looking brick or to have something directly adhered like thin brick. I don't think a super thick wall at the bottom to keep everything gravity supported will be liked. Anyone dealt with this and any good way to achieve it?

Do you have brick slips available in your locality?

Building this out of bone fide masonry just looks like a headache.

I would think as long as the f'c works out and your LGMF and ties can take the out-of-plane, then you should be OK. For 35 PSF veneer, the gravity out-of-plane @ 7 deg is only 4.3 PSF - so not a whole lot.

You sure the bricks will be vertical like your cross section? They don't tilt like the wall? All I could think of is how the mason going to finish the corner.

This feels like a great one to pass back to the architect to ask them how this is supposed to be built

I also can't see how durable this masonry will be with all those ledges collecting water and seeping into the mortar.

As many bricks as that is maybe custom bricks with a half-width bevel detail at the tops to shed water would be affordable. It would have the same load path and retain the same stepped look without inviting people and children to climb on it.

I'm not being sarcastic...but how many birds are going to decide all the little ledges are a great place to hang out.....and use the restroom?

Narrator: All of them. All the birds. It will look like a Aztec warrior coat.

That's not the worst. The worst is goats. Why goats? Because every ledge will be a tiny dirt trap, which will soon see plants putting down roots. Followed, if you let them, by goats eating the vegetation.

I think you should send the link of this discussion thread to the architects.

Tell them that the structural engineers have concerns about moisture and water getting trapped on each ledge. Additionally, structural engineers also have long-term concerns about birds and goats taking up residence on the wall.

Thanks everyone, the brick was initially inclined with the wall not sure if the stepping was deliberate decision.

These are some greats point I'm going to bring up in our come to Jesus meeting with the architect.
