I have a 10" screw conveyor moving cement from a silo to a weigh batcher. I want to incline the screw conveyor and increase the rpm to make up for the lost volume caused by the incline. I can find the formulas for friction and material horsepower in the horizontal condition but nothing on the hp to lift the volume. Any suggestions?

Dear conveyorbud:
From CEMA Standard No.350:

HP of lift = (lbs/min)*(actual feet of height lift)/33,000
(For small incline, usually, the power increase is low).

¿Is a tubular (pipe trough) screw conveyor? Up to 20º increase rpm in 15%. 30º increase 25%.
If standard U-trough, limit slope is 25º, and preferibly not over 15º.

I hope it helps you.
