Hi!
Whenever I use torsional loads for BEAM188 elements the angle of twist and shear stresses are consistent with theoretical results. However, the neutral axis is not. In the picture attached the results from a shaft in pure torsion can be seen. Here the neutral axis (marked with a black line) is not consistent with theory. Theory says that the neutral axis for pure torsion should be the longitudinal axis, i.e., the x-axis, which is not the case in ANSYS. What is the reason for this?
Attached is also the input file used for the pictures.
Thanks in advance
