Reviewing the SW help and online stuff, unfortunately I couldnt find any practical tutorials about how to do/perform the 'indent function' as some fellows suggested for my project.

My project is about making a PVC tray with a certain thickness having different compartments, depths, and shapes representing products which will be placed in the tray eventually.

I uploaded the 2D design(SW 2010) of the tray to get the idea.

As mentioned in your previous thread, to use the Indent function you will need models of the actual instruments or a simplified dummy model to represent them.

Do you have either?

No, I haven't made the 'dummies' yet. At this point I was planing to try a very basic format of a simple plate and a cylindrical object to see/learn how to indent the plate.

After, I will go ahead for making the sophisticated dummy/dummies.

Are they both(the plate and the dummy)have to be drawn in one page?

The Indent function is used in a multi-body 3D solid part ...
not a 2D sketch or drawing.
If you did you not watch Gabi Jacks video tutorial, I suggest you do so.
If you did watch it, I suggest you watch it again.

The only thing she doesn't explain is how to create a multi-body part by insert the parts into a part. The Help file explains that.

The Gabi's video and the help file were amazing, I did insert the object(tool body) but couldn't define the surface(target body)passing through the body...?

 


Following my previous threads, I created a dummy(like a male die) to make a tray( with a certain thickness)using 'indent' function. Trying indent function as an ex some where else it does work, but in this specific geometry it doesnt, ..I assume it's because of sophistication of the contours.

I am attaching this -dummy- drawing for your reference, if any one has any idea or any question about the condition I really appreciate that, FYI: the extruded surface passes through the flat(larger area) surface on the top.

ps. I do even have difficulties filleting the edges when I chose all 812 edges, but that's another problem.
