We have been asked to built a pressure vessel per the standards of Indian Boiler Regulations and ASME Section VIII Div.2 together. Does anyone know how the Indian Boiler Regulations differ from ASME Section VIII rules? Any information would be very helpful. Thanks.

As far as I know it s not permitted to make boiler according to Section VIII Div2

1. As you say you've been asked to build a "pressure vessel" and not a boiler. So, as is typical in India, the design is expected to be in accordance with ASME Sec VIII. (Generally referred to as "Code Basis" rather than "Code Stamping")
2. Conformance with IBR becomes necessary in certain cases of pressure vessels - it is not necessary that they be boilers.
3. It would probably be the right thing to do if you design the vessel separately to satisfy ASME and IBR and then adopt the higher of the values.

Check which code case, please?
