First, I need a material that can handle high heat of over 1200 F degrees in an induction heater. The material (this is being used as a safety measure) will be designed and placed between the coil and part(the part is 1022 material). The distance between part and coil is .125, so the material will be machined to fit inbetween and cannot touch either the coil or the part. I have designed 3 pieces to fit respectively over the coil (14" dia.. The material we are currently using is called NAD 11. This material started to burn from the heat of the part and although did not start in flames, it did wear & disintegrate. I am hoping to find a replacement. Any ideas on a ceramic or glass? Mybe a type of pyrex or corningware?
