I usually provide v-belt "tension" by way of adjusting centers using screw take-ups.

What are you using as a tensioning device?

Setting and adjusting belt tension can be by one of these three methods:
1) Elongation or stretch
2) Span deflection with spring guage
3) Sonic method for belt span natural frequency (I perfer this method)
