Dear all,

I have a concern about the design criteria for Industrial occupancy Extra Hazard group 2.

Can I choose the standard sprinkler type?
Is the K-factor 11.2 and where is that on NFPA 13 as I can't find the K-factor for industrial occupancy.
are the number of active sprinklers is 16 sprinklers as the design area of operation is 232 Sq.m.
what will be the response type of sprinkler?

There is no K factor for industrial occupancy. NFPA 13 does not recognize occupancies rather hazard classification of the various occupancies.

Your K factor should be what suits you best from table 7.2.2.1 depending on your design and hydraulics you want to achieve.

The number of sprinklers in your application area is determined by the actual situation of your design (actual head coverage) and the requirements of chapter 27. It can be as low as 20, or can be 32 or more depending on the head distances you choose. By the way, not sure how you got down to 16 heads for 232 m2.

Chapter 19 addresses the situation of extra hazard occupancies with quick response sprinklers.
