Industry Standards

I am a chemist by training and I'm delving into rheology of gels for a startup company. I'm not familiar with industry standards for rheometers. Is there a level of sophistication in the device performance that must be met to avoid ridicule from industry peers? In chemistry for example, a 60 MHz NMR would be laughed at these days since 400 and 500 MHz instruments are readily accessible. I'm most interested in a Brookfield DV-II+ Pro since preliminary searching has lead me to believe I would get "bang-for-my-buck." However, my principle investors would like reassurance that this system would hold-up against industry scrutiny. Of course I do appreciate that in analysis of any sort, a skilled technician can get reliable numbers out of very simple machines. This is therefore a "broad-brushed" inquiry. Thank You. -Ryan
