Hi,

What's the reason that you want to use construction lines?

Personally I don't find any need to work with too much construction lines in Inventor since all of the dimensions and constraints are added after the geometry of the sketch is done.(and not while you draw the lines, as in for example autocad)

But if you really want infinite "construction lines" in the sketch, try projecting the Axis or Work planes.

Mostly because I got used with that feature on ProEngineer.

Can be used for eveything...
I play a lot with the mirror tool, for example. Even knowing that the normal line serves very well.

It's more a psychologic need... That infinite line feels more solid... more concrete... It is like the main pillar of a building, where all the other measures refer to. I like that proEngineer strategy of making references of everything. A vertical and horizontal infinite line has been always the first thing I put in the sketch.
I recognize that in this case this line would indeed be redundant.

I liked your Idea of the axis. Resolves 90% of the problem. Too bad it cannot be turned, angled, etc without leaving the sketch edit. line is also easier to create than an axis.

Will use a normal line until someone come with something more specific.

So far, thanks for the solution.

I use a lot of construction lines - none of them infinite.
If you go into the line command and right click you will see construction
or
create normal line and then there is an icon in upper right corner of screen to toggle it to construction.

Project Geometry of the origin axis is, in effect, infinite construction line.

Great, man.
Liked that document. Many useful stuff.

And indeed, I noticed that I can turn any entity into a construction entity. Line, in this case. Couldnt make that on ProE...

Using the Axis and/or line as construction reference is satisfatory. I think I don't mind dispensing that infinite length one. It adds productivity, but little, actualy.

Thanx for eveything so far.
