Some twostrokes, as mercury outbords and aprilia mopeds, uses direct injection in order to lower emissions.

Where can I find info about this new technology./Thanks

You should check out the work of BRP (Bombardier Recreational Products) with the Evinrude ETEC Outboard engines. They are currently the most advanced DI 2-stroke engines available. These engines meet the most stringent emissions level (CARB 3-star). You can check out their website at There are several SAE papers available, including:

lassie 80, Check these out:

Patents and SAE papers by Orbital are too numerous to list(numbering in the 100's each)

Currently Piaggio, Aprillia, Mercury Marine, Tohatsu, Nissan Marine, Suzuki, Peugeot, BRP offer production engines using Orbital technology.

Kymco and Bajaj will be coming out with production models this year.

Additionally Mercury, EP Barrus(Tohatsu) and Hirth Engines offer production heavy fuel engines using Orbital technology.

Orbital has been working on 4S GDI with Ford, GM, Saab, Mercedes, Holden, and many others.

Additionally Honda and Caterpillar(diesel) have filed patents for engines using Orbital technology.

Have a nice day, Tom
