is it possible to inject SF6 into breaker while it is closed ?(it is HOT)

Normally yes, but check for your specific breaker.

It is possible to inject SF6 while CB in service however, you need to ensure that when connecting the kit, too much SF6 is not vented. If SF6 is vented while connecting the connections, it will lead to lower pressure and lock out of CB.

Lock out of feeder CB is loss of protection (Protection will operate but CB will not trip) and if during lock out conditions, if feeder protection operates, it will lead to bus bar protection energisation.

You must carry out evaluation of situation before doing this on line and must take all safety precautions.

Also, if you have not done it before, be very careful when charging the breaker to open the valve on the SF6 tank slowly. The top off process is extremely slow!
