We have contacted about 50 manufacturers now trying to find an air pump or blower to suit our needs. Now kind of wondering if we will be looking for something a little out of the norm or even experimental or proprietary.

Requirements.
220cfm
10-20psig at SL, variable via VFD
pos displacement
blower unit to fit in an 6-8" cube

So far have looked at twin screw, rot vane, and scroll concepts. Due to the size requirements, it is obvious something will be needed that can run at high speed. the drive motor is a non issue right now. Centrifugal is not an option for this application.

Eaton M24 roots supercharger

24 cu in/rev x 15000 rpm =208 cfm *
16000 rpm = 222 cfm*

*Not considering VE which will vary with pressure ratio.

15K is the rated max but may be able to go faster with slightly reduced reliability.

Couldn't quickly locate actual dimensions, but with modification to drive pulley and casting inlet, it might work. If nothing else, should illustrate that your requirements probably aren't too outlandish.

So far, I have not found a performance map for the M24 but the similar TVS looks be absolutely horrible up high speed and high pressure. Like 50%ish.

Is that about my only option there? Are there no hybrid or newer technology out there that can improve performance a touch? I was hoping to at least hit 75%eff.
