Hello,
I've been using NX 10 for a while now and I am trying to make my work more efficient.

My problem:
I have to make hundreds of models of the same item, only thing that changes is the hight cilinder type thing.
Is it possible to configure my model in a way that when i open that model that I have to select the hight I need just by selecting it out of a list that is connected to the extude. This way I don't have to search for the possible hights of the cilindrical thingys and don't have to make 100 seperate files.

Is this possible? I have been looking on the web for way to long how to do this and can't find anything.
If so can anyone explain how I do this please?

Greatings,

The change of length (in your example) is this always in context of an assembly? If yes then you can use the Deformable part feature. This lets you change the parameters when you add your part to an assembly.

If you just want to create new parts easily from your master model, then you can use the PartFamily function. This will still create a large number of new parts.

If you just want to easily change you existing model then there is the "List Expression". this you can use as a selection base for another expression.
Unfortunately, if I'm correct, this is only available as of NX11....

You can of course create a spreadsheet for your model (Tools - Spreadsheet) In there you can use the Excel functionalities to edit expressions and after that update your model with those new values.
One of the functionalities is to select a cell value from a list of values...

Thank you NutAce!

I've managed to do it using PartFamily, add my variable, created the spreadsheet and it works like it should.
