NX7.5

When in the "Sketch Task Environment", it is possible to Insert > Recipe Curve > Project.

But when outside the Sketch Task Environment, I can't seem to find a way to do the same thing. Any ideas on how to insert projected (or to perform Intersection Curves) while in Direct Sketch mode in NX7.5?

When you are in you sketch try adding the projected/intersection curves (done in a previous feature) using:
insert > curve > existing curve

Sorry, I should have been more clear. The goal is to achieve exactly the same function as is done when in the Sketch Task Environment using Insert > Recipe Curve > Project (or Intersect), but while in Direct Sketch mode.

Of course it's possible to project curves outside of a sketch, but that's not what I'm asking. I want to Insert Recipe Curves while in Direct Sketch Mode.

OK, to be honest with you, these capabilities (Recipe Curves) fell outside the scope of the NX 7.5 Direct Sketch project. this was primarily because they were non-trivial in getting them to function correctly in the environment in which one would create a Direct Sketch, that is, the normal modeling environment, which is much more complex and where it could potentially be impacted by other activities and actions taking place while creating sketch curves, whereas inside of the more ridged and controlled Sketch Task environment, these issues were never a concern.

Now that being said, we recognize the value and usefulness of these capabilities and therefore the effort needed to get them implemented properly has been included with other sketcher projects being planned and implemented in NX 8.0.

John, Thank you for the response. You seem clear that we won't see this functionality until NX8 is released. That's too bad that it won't be in NX7.5.x, but better than never.

The work is too extensive to make it a candidate for an MR enhancement, and besides there's some concern that if it were added to an NX 7.5.x MR release that it could be difficult to implement in such a manner as to allow it to be backward-compatible to earlier MR releases or even to the base NX 7.5.0.x release, which is a 'stone-tablet' requirement of any enhancement being considered for inclusion in an MR release.
