Installation of Vertical Can Pump

Dear all,
I am newly graduated Mechanical Engineer. I would like to ask for your experience.
We are going to install Vertical Can Pump on offshore gas processing plattform. The pump weighed 2100 lb and it is 17 ft long. We have to drill 12 inch hole to install it on Cellar Deck. The pump will be put through the hole and will be mounted on deck plate(5/8") with four 1" bolts.
I am worried about vibration & Civil problem. So I have some questions.
Do think this pump need and extra support (pump seat, can support)?
What is the most important thing that I have to concern on this type of pump installation?

VTPS on metal superstructers can be problematic, so your concerns are valid. Be especially careful if your pumps is 2 pole (3000 or 3600 RPM)!. Weak/elastic foundations can drop the 2nd mode into the operating range!

If you do have enough elasticity in your structure to interact with the pump (dropping the primary and secondary naturals within the RPM range of the pump) the best be it usually to add mass and more mass to the foundation. You can not do anything to the pump in the field. Any bracing to the head should be designed into it by the mfg.

You should consult with the engineering department of the pump mfgs you are considering. Given that this is an offshore application (API-610, special metallurgy... this is probably a short list, and they will likely have the expertise to guide your design.

Most pump mfgs never get asked these questions, then when there is a problem the first thing the customer does is blame the pump.....
