Just a quick question if anyone can please answer,

Hydrostatci Pressure testing is already being performed on a NPS8 pipeline. After completion of the pressure test, we are replacing a 2" weldolet (A105) with a 3" weldolet (A350) at the top of a riser. NDE testing will be done to the new weldolet, but is there anything written in any codes and standards that require pressure test to be redone? Conversely, is there anything written in the codes and standards that say it does NOT require retesting?

Please let me know. Thank you.

Hi,
Which design code has been used for the system? Is it B31.4, 31.8, Z662,...?

As far as I know all the codes and standards require pressure test after any alteration.

But you can always find "pressure piping alternate test methods procedure requirements" as well.

If in Canada, have look at the "Pipeline Acts and Regulations" in your province, you might find a clause to waive the pressure test and do more of the NDE.

As long as you are able to convince the local pressure safety administrator with proposing alternate methods, you should be fine.

I know how expensive and frustrating can be to re-do the test.
