Insulation Res. and Dielectric test parameter reduction

We have solenoids that we purchase from a manufacturer.
They perform Insulation resistance and Dielectric testing IAW a define test procedure. We then send the assembly out into the world for use. We occasionally receive the product back from various airlines to be retested and recertified for flight. Our concern is we have been not conducting the destructive electrical tests as part of the retesting. Is it possible to reduce the parameters of these tests to look for a problem created during time in the field, but not be subjecting the units to original levels of stress induced when tested as new. Is there a mil spec or other source that may be used as a reference?

Obviously you can't perform destructive testing during repair. Also, there's 'qualification testing' and then there's 'acceptance testing'.

If I were in your shoes, then I'd discuss this with the solenoid manufacturer (their QA engineer) and your own QA dept.

There are a lot of variables to consider.
