This condensation curve is produced via UNISIM for a vertical cooler where wet-Cl2 is in tube side while aqueous brine at shell. This is a typical result of integral condensation. My question is if I operate this cooler in a slightly inclined horizontal mode where wet-Cl2 is at shell side I will get differential condensation. Between the two (& before going in deep quantitative analysis) let us compare performances in a qualitative manner.
My studies suggests its a double-edged sword:

1] A greater MTD is obtained in integral case thus lowering area requirements ( )
2] If my objective is to have maximum amount of condensate removed from wet-Cl2 integral again wins ( p#3 )
3] Because of the dropwise condensation (differential) the condensed film thickness is lower & it boosts overall U thus decreasing area requirements

Whats are your thoughts?
