Hello dear engineers
i want to know, how can i simulate internal condenser in modelling distillation column?
`please answer my question soon
thanks

most simulators allow to subtract heat at specified stage,
you can also control the value to obtain, for example, a component fraction etc. etc.

for a detailed exchanger simulation (i.e. HTRI etc.) things are more complex...

Could you please sketch a plot ? I know distillation column with reboiler and condenser must be easily use either Aspen plus or pro/ii simulated.

Is it a total or partial condenser?

Good luck,
Latexman

To a ChE, the glass is always full - 1/2 air and 1/2 water.

Split the column in two separate columns with exchanger between them.

An internal condenser is modeled the same as an external condenser. The only difference is that there is no pressure drop between the top tray (stage) and the condenser. For the column trays or packing, the model has a pressure drop per stage, which is specified by the user. When you have an internal condenser you need to enter zero pressure drop between the top stage and the condenser.

The physical configuration of an internal condensor on the top tray would be different from that for an interstage condensor ( part way down the column).

On the top tray, an internal condensor would be cooling the vapor stream. An internal condensor on an intermediate tray could also be called an interstage condensor and would be chilling the liquid phase on that tray through some kind of internal cooling coil.

An interstage condensor may or may not be an internal condensor: if this is not an internal condensor, this would be chilling a sidedraw on the liquid phase stream on that tray through an external recirc pump / external HX. The chilled stream could be returned to a tray higher up (pump around) or lower(pumpback reflux) than the source stream side draw.

So which one of these do you have ?
