I have been approached to find a way to inspect internal pipe thicknesses using ultrasonic testing (water or sewage pipes). Transducer could be mounted on robotic devise and pipe could be filled with water or a water bubbler could also be used. This robotic devise could also have a camera attached. Any ideas or suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Hey there, if you answer the below questions i'll fire you through an answer with links to possible solutions...

1) Of what material is the pipe fabricated?
2) What is the nominal thickness of the pipe?
3) Are there many restrictions in way of supports, tee pieces, ect?
4) Are there long straight sections or is there many bends, tees, etc?
5) What coverage do you require i.e. 100% spot readings?
6) Are there any access restrictions?

Regards,

SWM
